The JBL Proflora m601 is the entry level CO2 set in the m range from JBL. The Proflora m601 is a high quality starter set containing all you need to start putting CO2 into your aquarium. Carbon dioxide in planted aquariums is injected from a rechargeable bottle via a regulator and diffuser into the water, when used at the correct level this will enhance the growth and health of your plants.

Setting up the JBL Proflora m601 unit couldn’t be easier, the regulator screws on to the top of the cylinder and a small diameter hose is run into the aquarium via the non-return valve. Connect one end of the hose to the regulator and the other to the diffuser in the tank. Once connected, the CO2 can be turned on via the valve on the top of the cylinder. With this valve fully open the rate of CO2 injected can be adjusted by using the valve on the regulator.

To adjust the CO2 to the correct level use a KH test kit (not supplied) to find out the hardness of your water and fit the permanent pH test (supplied) into your aquarium. Using the chart supplied in the kit you can now look up the desired pH level, simply adjust the rate of CO2 injection until the pH is at the correct level. Due to the fact that the permanent pH test is slow to adjust it normally takes a few days of adjustment to reach the optimum level of CO2.

Trade up to a Proflora m602 and you will get a solenoid valve included in the set enabling the CO2 to be automatically turned off at night when the plants have no need for it saving you money in the long run.
