The Juwel black carbon filter media provides chemical filtration in the aquarium to remove impurities and provide crystal clean rather than a cloudy aquarium. It is imperative that this filter sponge is changed every 6 weeks as after this period the carbon filter will begin return the impurities it remove to the aquaria.
The course blue Juwel filtration media is an efficient mechanical filter media. It works by trapping larger particles of fish waste before they can affect the biological filtration areas. Higher media should be changed or cleaned every 6 weeks while the lower media every 12 weeks.
